Our Vocal Instructor
Grace Anna Lane
Grace Anna Lane took an interest in music at a young age, and wanted to be a singer ever since the age of nine. During her early years, she sang at her church, wrote songs, took violin lessons, and taught herself piano. In high school, she began to grow as a singer, being intricately involved in the choral program. She was a part of the Women's trio, nominated for the Governor's Honors Program, participated in several musicals and competitions, and sang numerous solos in varied locations - from the local performing arts center to the school football field. In the Fall of 2011 she entered Belhaven University as a Music Performance major with a voice emphasis, studying under Dr. Christopher Shelt, and graduated in May of 2015. During her time at Belhaven, her production credits include: Into the Woods, Leonard Bernstein's Chichester Psalms, Handel's Messiah, and three children's operas by Seymour Barab - The Pied Piper of Hamelin, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, and The Maker of Illusions. As a lover of singing as well as working with people, Grace Anna has taught voice lessons and assisted with choirs since 2012, in several states and even in Tokyo, Japan during the summer of 2014. In her teaching, she strives to instill a joy of music and singing in her students, as well as an appreciation and awareness of their unique voice - simultaneously creating self-confidence and musical ability. In addition to teaching lessons, Grace Anna currently serves as the Music Administrative Assistant and Secretary to the Dean of Fine Arts at Belhaven, sings with the Mississippi Opera, and directs the children's choir at her church.
